Yes sa’ there’s some bad cuts on that piece…! Coltrane was so spiritual; and his sound was so hypnotic.

Outside of Miles Davis I don’t think there was any other Jazz artist as prolific or has as long of a discography as John Coltrane, and lot of this was done after his spiritual awakening in 1957. Listening to his music is like reading holy text and contemplating the sacred words of sages, you can always go back and receive something on a higher level of understanding. I have sat down with elders and have listen to the nuances of Coltrane sound for hours on end. He, like those who were around him, (Dolphy, Shepp, and Sanders) and his disciples open the metaphysical doors of sound and vibrations like musical shamans, and brought forth an approach to science and sound that was long lost to us for eons. When I tell people we can save our people and redeem our god-mind with music they think I’m insane…

Dig deeper into some of Coltrane’s later work, for this is where he starts to dig deep into the spirit world. You owe this to your god mind....

The mention of John Coltrane has been included in the poetry of almost every revolutionary poet from Amiri Baraka to The Last Poets and beyond.

What I admired about Coltrane was that he expressed his revolutionary spiritual fire naturally. This to me is the highest level of revolutionary action, “is to “be� what you express� and not have to announce it so people can get it or know it’s coming! It’s like hawks don’t tell everyone that they’re hawks, as much as they perform extraordinary feats and skills of flight and hunting, and it is those who observe this and see the action that speaks for itself who name them hawks, the hawk doesn’t give a damn how you perceive its majesty, for it does what it does, and there is nothing to assume. This non-assuming persona about Coltrane puzzled white critics and commentators, for he let his axe (what jazz musicians call their horns) take care of business, and didn’t try to explain what was explanatory to those who knew, and those who listened and heard.

Like they say, “for those who understand, no explanation is necessary, and for those who don’t, know explanation will suffice�
