The below is a brief description of one of four interviews from the "I've Known Rivers: The MoAD Stories Project" at
I've Known Rivers The MoAD Diaspora Stories Project. The one that i'm featuring in this posting is an in-depth interview of one of the most committed, courageous and brilliant freedom-fighters i have ever had the pleasure to know, the one and only Sis. Kiilu Nyasha, champion for all oppressed people! She has been one of my greatest teachers, influences, inspirations, and comrades. Please do take the time to check this interview out, conducted very lovingly by Sis. Tureeda Mikel and which is a fascinating and very rare look at the biography of our dear Sista who, against all odds, continues to be more active than most people without one iota of the challenges she faces daily!
Please ... take the time, you won't regret it! And also, pass it on, we need this herstory as part of our political education and an inspiration towards keep getting up and moving forward!
All Power to the People!

Tureeda Mikel interviews Kiilu Nyasha on "Black August" to learn about her journey to California and her activism in Black Power Movement. "I grew up during the forties in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the Hill District," says Kiilu, who was a foster child. "My mother suffered mental illness and struggled very hard to raise four children." Kiilu discusses overcoming poverty as a child, breaking the color barrier in corporate America, her membership in the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, and her commitment to socialism. "I will continue to be a freedom fighter until the day I die."
