The Yoruba encourage one another to pray their spiritual intuition or personal consciousness every morning upon waking, and before speaking to anyone or beginning your day. (1) To impress upon your spirit and intellect what you would like to accomplish (2) To retain a link w/ the divine during the day. (3) To ask for inspiration and support in being successful, ethical and productive.
Here is a very simple prayer which can be done by anyone. there are many prayers to the ori. once you find one that speaks directly to YOUR spirit it should begin to "live" a bit more in you and you will derive messages and/or feelings of peace. but it must be practiced consistently.
You should say it in Yoruba first. English second. If you only have time to say it one way UNRUSHED, say it in Yoruba. You want to tap into the thousands upon thousands of Ancestors who have said the words before you for thousands of years. You want access to that flow of energy, hope, purpose, intent and peace!

thanks. i hope they come in handy. i will post more in later. the good point is to find one or two that click over time, that speak directly to your Spirit. or to be more plain, you want to find those that change your consciousness and actually make you feel the divine within you. it takes a while and you gotta use them pretty frequently to get there. but its like getting acquainted w/ a new court surface or trying out a new skin on your drum, it takes some getting used to, then its on! lol
remember its important for your Spirit that you read the Yoruba version and eventually commit it to memory. dont rush. dont beat yourself. dont fret over how well you pronouce it. just make a sincere attempt. the sounds that are emitted from certain words or combination of words is what holds the greatest power. you want to access that over time, and you want to give yourself enough time to get there. now your Mind may prefer english, but trust me, your Spirit will be reprogramming the mind through these oriki. (remember you are spiritually and psychologically reconditioning yourself!)

When you worship your Ori, you are worshipping the divinity within yourself. You are in fact worshipping you! Talk about positive reinforcement.
Worshipping the Ori brings about mental clarity, visions/prophecy, clear conscious, heightened sense of "right/wrong" for your own destiny, peacefulness, decisiveness etc.
Worshipping your Ori is worshipping the aspect of the Creator that exists within you. In fact the Ori is considered a literal Divinity and the most important Divinity, even before the Creator, because it is located within you.
Most BlackCellent thread...i've spoken with Babalawo in Nigeria who are often distraught with how de-emphasized one's own Ori is generally here in the western hemisphere...this is a good resource for those interested...stay BlackNificent!!!

I know this is an old thread but I want to thank you, IfasehunReincarnated, for these prayers to the ori.
The worship of the ori is not something that is shared much anymore. I have asked some elders about it and have not received any instruction on how to connect with my ori.
I have a question about the ori and its connection to Osun (not Oshun, but Osun, the protector of the ori). How should one properly work with Osun? Must one work with Osun in order to better connect with the ori?
