Anyway, I've been having a recurring dream that involves me being asleep---I mean dreaming that I'm asleep (or at least I think I am), except that I am aware of my surroundings. I'm able to see the entire room and hear things clearly. When I become aware of this, my mind believes that I'm fully awake, so I try to move my limbs only to find out that my body is completely paralyzed no matter how hard I try to throw my arms and legs. My mind is completely conscious of everything at the moment (there was this one episode where I recall being aware of a tv program that was on during this same "state" only to wake up and see the same program in progress)...
There have been others I've been having (a good amount each month), however, I only get this particularly one once every three or four months. Has anyone ever experienced anything similar to this? What do you make of it? |
It's so bizarre that you made this post because this morning I was having a dream where I was flying, and I was conscious. I've had more than one dream where I was flying but this most recent one was longer than usual. The most interesting thing about these dreams is that they're not 'hocus pocus', 'abbra cadabra' dreams, there's actual mechanics to it. When I'm flying I don't just jump in the air and take off like super man, I actually have to stand there for a moment, concentrate, build up my energy and then I slowly begin to levitate. Having mechanics adds to the realness of it and it's very fun.
I know what you mean about being paralyzed too. In a lot of dreams that I've had, I lost my voice and ability to move before, and had to wait until I was charged up, so to speak.
