| R.I.U. Dadisi Sanyika ![]() Everybody has met with spiritual people before in their life, but Dadisi Sanyika ranks as one of the GREATEST spiritual minds I have ever had the opportunity to interact with. I learned yesterday that he crossed over into the ancestor realm. I have to write this because learning of his passing, I had not really contemplated how much of an impact he had on me on a "personal" level...and he did not even know. I'm sure he knew he had "some" impact on me and the other people who attended any of his classes, but I don't know if he knew HOW MUCH of an impact he had on me. Dadisi Sanyika was longtime member of ASCAC and a master drummer and master teacher of African spirituality. He held regular teachings and drum instructions at the African Cultural Center of Long Beach for as long as I can remember. His knowledge on ancient Africa was UNQUESTIONED (he is the one who put me up on "Stolen Legacy"...not the book itself, but the DEPT of the book). He will be TRULEY missed...however if what he taught was true, then I WILL be speaking with him again!!! (along with Malcolm and others) *smile* Dadisi Sanyika drummer, dancer, author Artistic Director of the Dembrebrah West African Drum and Dance Ensemble, a martial arts master and an ordained metaphysical minister, Dadisi's work focuses on African philosophy and spirituality as it relates to contemporary life for Africans in America. His books are Rites and Rituals of Initiation, West African Drum and Dance, and a collection of poetry, Rise of the Midnight Sun. With his daughters he heads Golden Thread enterprises in Los Angeles.
