Puraka, Kumbaka, Rechaka - Inhale, Hold, Exhale [Repeat]
A simple formula for achieving enlightenment.
Remember that on the exhale [kumbaka], the ideal is to PUSH the last bits of air from your lungs, almost like you're 'wringing them out.' Remember too, that it's best to inhale [puraka] through the nose.
It is a natural instinct to hold the breath slightly at the maximum inhalation, to extract as much oxygen as possible from the air being held. You can do this systematically, by counting the cycle-phases with a number or mantra.

My first book on stretching. I learned about Mulbanda from here.
Ashtanga Yoga: The Practice Manual: An Illustrated Guide to Personal Practice by David Swenson. I bought the book thinking I could do these poses right off the jump. I was young, like in my early 20's. It got shelfed. But I learned about the banda, and how naive I am. http://books.google.com/books?lr=&q=...G=Search+Books
