Acrylic on 14 x 11 canvas
Sundiata's "Loveboat in the Milky Way" was a birthday gift for his goddaughter, Sis. Dawn McGhee. Sis. Dawn is currently struggling mightily to create the film "A Power Sun," the subject of our current Monthly Action Alert (please check it!) He explained that it has her eyes and lips, her daughter (fist raised), she & a friend from a previous film she created called "Streetwalkers," along with the nose/upside down heart. Beautiful!
"We must continue to move forward and do everything we can to outlaw legal lynching in America. We must continue to stand together in unity and to demand a moratorium on all executions. You must stay strong. You must continue to hold your heads up, and to be there. We will prevail. Keep marching Black people. They are killing me tonight. They are murdering me tonight." -- Excerpts of Last Words of Bro. Shaka Sankofa, an innocent man executed by the state of Texas, 6/22/00. www.myspace.com/nattyreb7

These are but the tip of the iceberg, Sundiata, Zolo Agona Azonia, Mumia Abu-Jamal, Phil Africa (and probably many others) are all tremendous artists. i put a painting of Sis. Safiya Bukhari on Mumia's "Jericho 10-10" article in his forum here, done by Tom Manning, a north american PP.
