| | The Wrongful Conviction of Jamie and Gladys Scott |
Jan 11, 2009 - 10:27 PM - by XXPANTHAXX | The Wrongful Conviction of Jamie and Gladys Scott
Plan Of Action: Raise the People's awareness to this tragic miscarriage of justice, support Sister Jamie and Gladys Scott, by writing them and supporting them financially
Purpose Of Action: To agitate to a level where these Sisters receive a new trial and are released unconditionally. In the State of Mississippi (USA) - On December 24, 1993, Scott County Sheriff's Department arrested two sisters, Jamie and Gladys Scott for armed robbery, and In October of 1994, Jamie and Gladys Scott were each sentenced to double life terms in prison. Neither sister had prior convictions, nor arrests, nor criminal history. Three young black male confessed to the robbery, implicated and linked Jamie and Gladys into the crime; and these men also received a light sentence of 10 months in exchange of a plea bargain. Allegedly; between $9-$11, were stolen; subsequently no one was injured or murdered.
We are urging everyone to support this Petition and assist our efforts in obtaining Freedom for these innocent Ladies.

My name is Jamie Scott and I have asked that this is posted on the different web sites that have been created for my sister and me. I do understand there are many people out there that don’t understand a lot about prison and what someone goes through in a situation such as this. Please don’t get me wrong; IF you commit a crime, then you should be punished.
In the state of Mississippi, the crime chart is just crazy. I have met so many women here that their husbands were beating the living mess out of them and these ladies have legal action against their husbands, but as soon as she tries to stop him from killing her and she takes his life, she comes to prison. But keep in mind; they still do not receive two life sentences. Men are here for brutal raping of children and women, but yet they don’t have double life.
When I entered prison at the tender age of 22, I felt like my world was coming apart and life was not worth living. There were no more secrets and I had to strip naked in front of everyone, including men, because they thought it was funny. I was made to... [Read More] |

Nov 17, 2007 - 3:06 PM - by Kefentse_Bandele | FALSELY ACCUSED!!! Title: Support Obadele Kambon facing trial on February 7, 2008 9:00 AM 5th District Court House Bridgeview, IL Courtroom 109: Judge Thomas M. Davy
Time Frame: 1 Month
Plan of Action: Protect/Support Obadele Kambon as he faces a police corruption induced trial on December 10, 2007.
Purpose of Action: Be involved in a continued fight against Police Brutality and corruption in our communities by helping to support our warrior brother.
Background:
On the evening of June 25, 2007 at 9:45PM, Obadele Kambon and his pregnant fiancée, Kala Mujibha, were stopped by the Chicago police allegedly for a broken turn signal light. Without explanation, Obadele and Kala were told to get out of the car and were unlawfully searched, handcuffed, and detained by the police while the car was illegally searched without expressed or implied consent and without probable cause. Though Obadele safely transported an unloaded weapon in a closed container within the trunk of his car with papers of ownership, the police confiscated the weapon, arrested Obadele, and impounded his car. Because the police had no probable cause to perform the illegal search in the first place, they decided to manufacture probable cause out of thin air. In an untruthful report, the police claimed that in stopping Obadele and Kala they visibly saw the weapon in the cabin of the car. Furthermore they said it was loaded, allowing them to pursue felony charges. Due to the lies of the police and the malicious prosecution of the state's attorney, Obadele now faces a serious felony charge with a minimum of five years imprisonment.
Obadele Kambon, who has given so much to our communities, now needs our support. Our young, brother-warrior has been an uncompromising fighter and activist for the Afrikan community all of his 28 years of life. He has not only acquired five Afrikan languages, but has taught these languages of our ancestors to Afrikan communities all over the world; including Ghana, The Gambia, Senegal, the U.S., Canada, Belize, Australia, and England. In Chicago alone he currently teaches at seven institutions from pre-school to middle schools to alternative high schools to the university level. Our brother, who has taught our youth and adults how to defend themselves as a Capoeira instructor and Outdoor Survival instructor in Chicago and Mississippi, and has started an Afrikan Language Institute and African Liberation Forum online to provide our people with courses, resources, and information for the purpose of our re-Afrikanization, can face five years in jail. As a PhD candidate, who has never had any prior criminal records in his life, Obadele is now being erroneously accused of having a loaded weapon in the cabin of the car. This concocted story filled with holes changed the scenario from a case of transporting a weapon in a manner consistent with federal guidelines to a trumped up aggressive unlawful use of a weapon charge with the potential to enact harm to the Black community which he serves. What do lack of probable cause to search, illegal search tactics and blatant lies on a police report and in front of the grand jury get the Chicago police? A day off of work and a monetary bonus for finding a weapon. While the ... [Read More] |

Sep 19, 2008 - 9:04 AM - by nattyreb | PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!! TITLE: Support Needed for Sundiata Acoli / NY 21 Film Projects TIME FRAME:Until Completed! PLAN OF ACTION: Donations urgently needed to finance the independent docufilms of FieldUp Productions! PURPOSE OF ACTION: Our message is simple. We need your help to tell the true story of the continuing efforts of African-American movements by supporting our monumental documentary film projects. Our project is told by actual members who experienced the movement. A Power Sun and Wrack 21 are very important projects to be shared with the community at large. The voices and stories of actual members of the New York Chapter of the Black Panther Party drive the documentary, as well as dramatic elements and interviews with scholars and others involved in the case. It is rare that an almost forgotten part of the past is told with such passion and a sense of urgency. But the past is not forgotten by those who continue to work for the liberation of all people from poverty and violence, who love freedom, and who want to ensure that the sacrifices of our forefathers and mothers were not in vain.
The film’s director, writer and producer, Dawn McGhee says, “This film combines the true history of a dynamic movement, while re-creating the accounts of his story”. As many of you are aware, the dramatic re-enactments began this month with Irma P. Hall, Omar Wiseman, Mutulu "M1" Olugabala and Stic.man. Words are not enough to express our sincerity and appreciation to these individuals giving their time and talent to help us tell our story and it's commitment like theirs, as well as others on board, that show us how committed to Victory they are. We must pool together our resources and spread the word to family, friends, colleagues, and others to visit the website and donate!!!! Their and your help is greatly appreciated by political prisoners, prisoners of war, exiled comrades, the community, and of course, FieldUp Productions. WHAT CAN YOU DO:
***********************
Disaster relief with human rights
Support Haitian-led, Haiti-capacity building relief effort - sustain human rights, healing and dignity. Help us save and protect the lives, lands, property and human rights of the Haitian survivors displaced by the 2010 earthquake.
1. Emergency Relief: Rescue
Right now Haiti needs rescue teams, emergency personnel, doctors and nurses who can provide immediate help to the earthquake victims, help with injuries, surgery and digging those still alive out from under the rubble, provide trauma counseling, food, water, medicine, blankets and shelter.
Haiti needs professionals who are well versed in disaster rescue and who can bring the relevant life saving equipment and technology needed to lift up the pulverized concrete off victims who are still buried under the rubble. If you are a nurse or doctor or part of such a rescue team, that's what Haiti needs and we suggest you coordinate these efforts DIRECTLY with the Haitian government. There are many Haitian professional associations gathering forces to go to Haiti and collaboration is recommended. To coordinate and synchronize immediate emergency responses and medical assistance, we suggest you contact Haitian Medical Team Coordinator - Dr. Yves Jodesty in Miami.
2. Send Monies immediately to Haiti relief organizations
Send monies to Haitian-led grassroots, Haitian capacity building organization who have direct access and relationships with the most vulnerable affected by this earthquake. There are many worthy organizations working to assist the earthquake victims. Haitian-led relief efforts: HLLN is fleshing out a response strategy, still in the process of trying to locate many or our collaborators who lived in Port - au - Prince, so we don't yet have information to give you as to some of these grassroots Haitian organizations in Haiti that we've raised funds for and who could be a resource to the volunteer nurses and doctors and relief workers heading to Haiti. We shall post them up as information permits. For the time being, we are recomending that those who want to help, send funds and New York medical supplies to our collaborator:
click on: IFCO/Haiti Relief in New York
Our other Haiti partners in Canada, France, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Latin America, Europe and Africa, et al have yet to put their information together. But if we have other recommendations for where it is safe to send monies knowing it will reach the victims and will be sensitive to Haitian human right and dignity, this page will be updated.
3. Collect and send medicine, water and blankets
The list for medical and other emergency items that are needed right now are at Ezili/HLLN's
List of Requested Items for the Earthquake Victims
