Books on divination for uninitiated, written by Priests of various traditions.
Ever wanted to talk to your ancestors directly, not just sit around and talk cute about the act, like its a dead art form?
Well, there are only a few good books, with legitimate prayers included. some are very hard to find, but worth the effort. I have listed some books below. they should really be used in the order presented. and that happens to mean you will looking in the order that is hardest to locate them. but you WILL find them, if you are supposed to learn this science. and you can be assured that you will get a proper introduction, including learning how to pronounce the invocations correctly.
- Author: Falokun Fatunmbi Iwa-Pele: Ifa Quest the Search for the Source of Santeria and Lucumi
- Author: Falokun Fatunmbi Awo: Ifa & the Theology of Orisha Divination
(both will have to bought used, as they are published sporatically. Anything below $30 for either book is a fair price for a rare book. This books are both written by a non-Afrikan that happens to be initiated. There are two things I know his information on prayers and divination come directly from Ode Remo, Nigeria. So consider it information passed along and don't worry about him. This is direct from the continent.)
- Author: Baba Ifa Karade The Handbook of Yoruba Religious Concepts
(this one really has to be used in conjunction w/ others. its not just about divination. it just has a good section on it.)
- Author: Baba Osundiya Awo Obi: Obi Divination in Theory and Practice
- Author: Afolabi A EpegaObi divination
- Author: John Mason Dida Obi
- Author: Author: Ra Ifagbemi Babalawo The Little Oracle That Goes a Long Way
- Author: Ócha'ni Lele Obi
The next book is in the Kemetic Tradition and you will need to purchase the oracle or divination tool seperately. you can go here to find links to the publishing company that makes and sells their divination system. its all genuine.
Many people seem unaware that the divination system exists and focus entirely on the book. Which alone is nothing more than an intellectual excercise. As all African traditions, Kemetic people practiced ritual, possession and divination, alongside meditation and study. There is no substituting or avoiding the entire experience. Just reading Metu Neter is really not a complete 360 degree understanding of Kemetic Spirituality.
- Author: Ra Un Nefer Amen I Metu Neter Volume 1 AND Metu Neter Oracle Cards
The Best Way to Learn
Of course the best way and TRADITIONAL way to learn and confirm your skill is to find a teacher, submit to a teacher and learn from a teacher. (do not skip the steps. lol) as different lineages change the science based on their own findings, which go back hundreds and many cases thousands of years. do not think for a second that you can master or discover all that they have on your own. (one person versus a few hundred generations of diviners? i doubt it seriously) but you can get started now, esp. if you are in a part of the world where no teacher is permanently available (you have to actually look before you should assume. lol good traditional diviners are everywhere these days.)
