UMOJA - The Spirit of Togetherness is a pulsating musical celebration of South African song and dance. From the potent rhythms of tribal music to the intricate steps of gumboot dancing; from the foot stomping jazz of Sophiatown to the inspirational full-throated joy of Gospel; and the powerful pounding energy of Kwaito and Pantsula.

With a cast of 40 of South Africa 's brightest and most versatile young performers, singers, dancers, drummers and marimba players, UMOJA - The Spirit of Togetherness is a joyous celebration of dynamic talent, thrilling energy, great voices and sensual dancing sweeping across the bright and vibrant South African traditional musical landscape.

UMOJA is the inspiration of Todd Twala and Thembi Nyandeni (of Ipi Ntombi fame). They created this show to express their heritage and also to create opportunities for underprivileged South African youth. They themselves came from disadvantaged backgrounds and wanted to give kids an opportunity to experience what they had.

UMOJA opened at London 's Shaftesbury Theatre on November 12, 2001 after a successful run in South Africa . It immediately captivated UK audiences and wowed the press with its honest energy and performances.

In the past two years UMOJA has successfully toured in 22 countries, playing each show out to standing ovations – a success very few international shows have achieved.

UMOJA is a South African musical experience bringing you all the big hits from Pata Pata to Paradise Road, Tula Baba to Mandoza's Nkalakatha and many more. It's a 2 hour history lesson on South Africa and its music and people that will have you dancing in the isles.
