| African History Month and Union Government African History Month and Union Government
Kwame Nkrumah was constantly agitating and educating our people on the need for Union Government. Union Government is the systemic and structural face of Pan-Africanism. Pan-Africanism is the sum total of the liberation struggles of the African people through out the world and throughout our history. As I wrote in my Pan-Africanism forum
"Every February the conscious elements of our people discuss two deadly assaults on our nation. One the assassination of Brother Omowale/Malcolm X in 1965 by the US authorities and in the very next year, the overthrow of the Nkrumah CPP government in Ghana by the British and the US with collateral support from others such as France. There is a common theme in both of these dastardly -- the desire to destroy Pan-Africanism. The determination to prevent us from developing a successful global liberation movement that would culminate in the creation of a truly democratic, just nation and the undiluted liberty of our peoples everywhere. These two actions were and are part of the overall counteroffensive against our interests and our agenda. As we know this counteroffensive, both on the physical and psychological levels continues to this very moment.
"A strategy of action of this type can only be defeated by superior organization. Superior organization can only develop from proper ideological, that is philosophical, spiritual, practical, psychological approach to our culture. In short, as culture entails all that a people do, think and are, ideology is the way we go about being who and what we are in every single dimension. This might sound like a tall order but it is not, for the people in their struggle are creating and reinforcing the revolutionary ideology of our liberation movement, our war for national and social independence every single second of every single day. It is up to all of us to properly contribute to this overall process.
"As Nkrumah taught us, history must be seen as the story of how our abominable suffering at the hands of our tormentors is being reversed by the glorious efforts of our organized people and nation."
Those of us who are conscious must use every opportunity, including African History Month, to help our people around the globe understand the absolute necessity of achieving Union Government. For without such a government we are lost.
