| We Need Real Unity in opposition to Racism and Capitalism
Dear Friends, Brothers, Sisters, Comrades and Colleagues, REAL UNITY IN THE AFRICAN SENSE MEANS A SOCIALIST ALL-AFRICAN UNION GOVERNMENT...anything else is playing. No doubt you have noticed the sudden upsurge, deluge really, in the proliferation of "solutions" to our problems as people, nations, and cultures. Ranging from the inane lies coming from the camps of the capitalist candidates McCain, Clinton and Obama; to the propaganda of media elements such as PBS's Frontline's upcoming broadcast on the criminal war launch against Iraq by the US, which from their own descriptions, appears to reduce the issues to the disputes within the Bush administration, i.e., the disagreements between Powell - Rice - Rumsfeld - Cheney and others (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/bushswar/); and the "New New Deal" project of the periodical The Nation (http://www.thenation.com/doc/20080407/intro), involving personalities such as Rev. Jesse Jackson, Howard Zinn and the like, discussing the need to revive the welfare statism associated with the "First New Deal" under Franklin Roosevelt. All these in response to the deteriorating domestic political and economic situation in the US and the worsening military situation in the world. Domestically the US is facing a growing and strengthening opposition and extreme hostility among the African people resident here, as evidenced by the refusal to join or even support the war policies, the anger over lynchings, gentrification, Katrina, police killings of innocent people in our community, the subprime scam, racial profiling, mass incarceration and related hostile actions carried out against the helpless Africans in America. On other fronts the Native people continue to escalate their educational efforts against the continue marginalization of their nation and culture; and even Europeans-in America, specifically some of the worker elements such as those among the anti-concession UAW forces, who are fighting not only the capitalist who own the plant, but also the corrupt union leadership facilitating the crushing of the workers and anti-war/peace elements such as Code Pink and Cindy Sheehan Gold Star Families for Peace. On the actual military front the situation is no better. The US and the west generally not only finds itself losing against the Iraq, Palestinian resistance and liberation movements, and their allies, with recent attacks on US Army camps in Iraq and rocket attacks on the so-called Green Area and resistance to the US and their allied forces' plans for the Middle East generally, there is growing military tension between the Slavic nations, that is, what is left of Serbia/Yugoslavia, over Kosovo and escalating tension between Russia and the US and its allies over ICBM, space wars and other matters. And now there is further problems in areas such as the Phillipines, in Japan over rapes and other crimes committed by US occupation forces in Okinawa and the brewing problems in the efforts to attack China by way of Tibet. But thats not all. Many of you have probably been following former Pres. Castro's analysis of McCain in Prensa Latina (http://www.plenglish.com/article.asp...D)&language=EN) and the growing tension on the African continent in the Congo, Zimbabwe, as their governments move to alter the control of the capitalist west (that is the partial seizures of mines in the Congo, the partial nationalization of most western and settler owned businesses in Zimbabwe...) and so on. The recent hostility between Libyan security forces and those of Uganda and Rwanda are also something that is not a happy phenomena for the western capitalist...as Museveni and Kagame are critical allies of capitalism. It is clear that these are very fluid times. With many issues coming to the forefront that directly impact our people specifically and even more that impact the population generally. Given all this, we Africans need our own political vehicle that can use the issues and problems we face globally in such a way as to facilitate our liberation. A political vehicle that can effectively EDUCATE our people so that they can take history in their collective hands and right the wrongs we have suffered lo these many centuries. Our main enemy is the racist system, the system of the capitalist that stands on our neck and sucks our blood and robs our progeny of its rightful legacy. To be effective we must know who we fight and first and foremost is the racist capitalist system itself. This is why neither of the Democrats, no matter what "color" or gender, nor the Republican accused mass murderer (search the web for the many articles on McCain and the USS Forestall fire) is our friend or even ally. They are all totally owned by the CAPITALIST that is as Dr. Nkrumah said is the gentleman slave owner. To help all of us be on the same page on the subject of capitalism might I offer these insights from Malcolm, Dr. King, and Dr. Nkrumah. I thank you for your time. "It is impossible for capitalism to survive, primarily because the system of capitalism needs some blood to suck. Capitalism used to be like an eagle, but now it's more like a vulture. It used to be strong enough to go and suck anybody's blood whether they were strong or not. But now it has become more cowardly, like the vulture, and it can only suck the blood of the helpless. As the nations of the world free themselves, the capitalism has less victims, less to suck, and it becomes weaker and weaker. It's only a matter of time in my opinion before it will collapse completely." Malcolm X The tendency in the transitional period between capitalism and socialism is embourgeoisment. The working class vision of socialism during this period may be blurred by the corruption of the "welfare state". In these conditions, the worker becomes a well fed Philistine and turns towards reaction and conservatism. Socialist revolution becomes a minor issue. ... Economic affluence, or status aspirations induce many members of the working class to claim middle class membership. In the so-called "welfare state" , many working class live like the lower middle class. Economic satisfaction leads to middle class identification, which in its turn results in conservative voting. In this situation, extension of the voting rights to the mass of the population has not so much reduced the power of the ruling class, as caused the radicalism of the working class to decline. The tendency for some working class movements in capitalist societies to confine their activities only to trade unionism is a danger to socialist advance. While conditions of embourgeoisement exist among the working class of capitalist countries an added responsibility rests on the exploited peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America ..." pp 73-4 "Class Struggle in Africa", Dr. Nkrumah Threatened with disintegration by the double-fisted attack of the working class movement and the liberation movement, capitalism had to launch a series of reforms in order to build a protective armour around the inner workings of its system. To avoid an internal breakdown of the system under the pressure of the workers' protest movement, the governments of capitalist countries granted their workers certain concessions which did not endanger the basic nature of the capitalist system of exploitation. They gave them social security, higher wages, better working conditions, professional training facilities, and other improvements. These reforms helped to blur fundamental contradictions, and to remove some of the more glaring injustices while at the same time ensuring the continued exploitation of the workers. The myth was established of an affluent capitalist society promising abundance and a better life for all. The basic aim, however, was the establishment of a "welfare state" as the only safeguard against the threat of fascism or communism. However, the problem was to find a way to avoid sacrificing the all-important principle of ever-increasing profits for the owning minority, and also find the money needed to finance the welfare state. By way of solution, capitalism proceeded to introduce not only internal reforms, but external reforms designed to raise the extra money needed for the establishment and the maintenance of the welfare state at home. In other words, modern captalism has come to depend more heavily than before upon the exploitation of the material and human resources of the colonial territories. On the external front, therefore, it became necessary for international finance capital to carry out reforms in order to eliminate the deadly threat to its supremacy of the liberation movement. The modifications introduced by imperialism in its strategy were expressed: (a) through the disappearance of the numerous old-fashioned "colonies" owing exclusive allegiance to a single metropolitan country, (b) through the replacement of "national" imperialisms by a "collective" imperialism in which the USA occupies a LEADING POSITION. pp 53-5, "Handbook of Revolutionary Warfare", Dr. Nkrumah "I want to say to you as I move to my conclusion, as we talk about "Where do we go from here," that we honestly face the fact that the movement must address itself to the question of restructuring the whole of American society. There are forty million poor people here. And one day we must ask the question, "Why are there forty million poor people in America?" And when you begin to ask that question, you are raising questions about the economic system, about a broader distribution of wealth. When you ask that question the capitalistic economy...one day we must come to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring...questions must be asked..."Who owns the iron ore?"..."Why is it that people have to pay water bills in a world that is two thirds water?... "...Now, when I say question the whole society, it means ultimately coming to see that the problem of RACISM, the problem of ECONOMIC EXPLOITATION, and the problem of WAR are all tied together. These are the triple evils that are interrelated." concluding Chapter, "Where Do We Go From Here", Dr. King "I might point out here that colonialism or imperialism, as the slave system of the West is called, is not something that is just confined to England or France or the United States. The interests in this country are in cahoots with the interests in France and the interests in Britain. It's one huge complex or combine, and it creates what's known not as the American power structure or the French power structure, but an international power structure. This international power structure is used to suppress the masses of dark-skinned people all over the world and exploit them of their natural resources." Malcolm X
