12 Year Old is CEO of Hair Care Company

New York, NY (BlackNews.com) - Leanna Archer dreamed of starting her own hair-care business, and nothing was going to stop her from achieving it. Not even the fact that she was only eight years old. She is simultaneously running Leanna's Inc., taking singing and piano lessons, a motivational speaker on weekends, working on a teen magazine and making the elementary school honor roll.

Welcome to the world of Leanna Archer, a most unusual 12 year old from Islip NY in Long Island. When she was just eight years old, Leanna decided that she wanted to create a business selling the homemade hair dressing recipe (handed down from her great grandmother who is still living with her) that left her hair exceptionally healthy, shiny and soft.

After Leanna spent a year bugging her parents about the idea, they were convinced that it was not just a phase, after all she went behind their back and started selling it in school and the kids parents started asking for more. They agreed to give it a try. Leanna's dad and 15 year old brother created a website (www.leannashair.com) where customers could learn and buy the hair dressing. It didn't take long for some beauty salons to start using, selling the products and demanding more. Leanna delivered with a natural oil treatment, natural shampoo and natural conditioner.

Leanna's Inc. has gotten everyone into the family business; even Leanna's six year old brother is involved in quality control. "He is in charge of making sure the labels are straight on the jars and bottles, that everyone is wearing hair nets and aprons when they are mixing the concoctions."

Leanna's typical day is going to school, come home, and walk the dog then check to see how many orders are on the website. Leanna takes care of her homework first then heads to the basement to pack her boxes that her father would be taking to the post office the next day. Leanna manages to get to bed by 9 pm and wakes up around 7 am.

Everything was going smooth with three to five orders until that number started rising to about 20 orders a day, a little too much for Leanna to handle and a concoction that she was not ready to share by hiring an outsider. Leanna's father (working for an investment firm in Manhattan) decided to sacrifice his job, his career because he believed in his daughter's dream. And a lot has happened since he started to help his daughter.

Leanna's products were featured under best hair products in "Hype Hair" magazine July 07 issue; Leanna gave a speech at the African American Museum; Leanna was featured in the local New York Newsday newspaper; Leanna was interviewed by Sally Jessie Raphael on her Talk net show on www.sallyjr.com in July; Leanna was interviewed by from BETJ's My Two Cent's host Jennifer Lewis Hall on her NJ radio show; Leanna was selected as a business finalist by 1010Wins Radio and Madison Square Network; Leanna opened the NASDAQ on October 4th with Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson; Leanna has been interviewed by many magazines that has not put out her story as yet; Leanna is currently featured in the January 08 issue of the New York Enterprise REPORT.

Leanna goes to churches, schools and youth forums to give speeches in an effort to motivate kids by letting them know who she is and what she is doing and by reminding them that school is very important and for them to share their dreams with their parents. The local High School had a CEO for a day after seeing Leanna in the Newspaper where only kids brought items that they make to sell. They were lots of them and Leanna is planning to write a story about them in her magazine. Leanna received a citation from the Nassau County Legislator and a certificate of recognition the town of Hempstead for her dedication to give speeches for free. When offered money to give speeches but instead she asked them to donate the money to their favorite charity.
