Action Potential

“a true story of thought in process”
One day,
“thought” went traveling
deep inside of the
central nervous system looking for
mitochondrion.
Thought loved them so! Every time
“thought” went traveling it needed these
“long cellular organelles” if it were to make it outside of
the nucleus.
They were soooo rich in fats, and
proteins that one needed
very little or you would be to
“big” to fit inside of the
“soma”, that’s were all
the nucleus lived and you had to be small to live in there.
Even though there were diverse populations using
“different” neurotransmitters to communicate; some
big, some
small; any change to the cell’s membrane could change
the absolute value of there civilization known as
“interphase” which would
increase or decrease the life expectancy of the membrane potential to zero which then cause the cell to
hyperpolarize and die.
They, the
“sensory neurons” have always lived close to together in the “Kingdom of Ganglia” and the Emperor Plexus was crowned the The “Asantehene” over the entire “central nervous system” to once again restore the “Palace” to it’s once stable empire.
After being
"crowned" on the
“Golden stool” which contained the
“brain and spinal cord” he
immediately provided
“relay points” and
“intermediary connections” to his complex system to govern
pre and postsynaptic transmissions.
The
“Assatehene” is
“very wise” but
“stern”. When it comes down to
“neurotransmitters” being released across the “synaptic cleft” it just
flat out causes him to have
“nervous impulses” every time. Nothing ever goes unchecked in his palace.
Nothing’!!
The Emperor’s central nervous system was protected by none other than the most famous general in the whole land’
General Oligodendrocytes, and
under his command
Lt. Swhann, who worked the
“peripheral” side of
the kingdom.
General Oligodendrocytes and
Lt. Swhanns’ “
neuroglia”
insulate and protect the “axon”. (The neuroglia are the king’s army that make a myelin sheath; a shield of fat-containing cells that insulate the axon from electrical activity) and
ol’ did they eat handsomely!!! General Oli~go~dend~ro~cytes,
protector of the
Golden Stool was “put-in”
charge by the
Asantehene to
increase the rate of transmission of signals. A gap, which exists between each myelin sheath propagates
agation of electricity;
this helps the signal jump from one gap to the next to further enhance daily operations between the community‘s.
The gaps are governed by
“Exocytosis of
the Samburu tribe”

who ensures that
soluble proteins will be
secreted throughout the land of Ganglia, the safe travel of
interneuronal signaling for serotonin, histamine, and dopamine,
keeps the kingdom rested and alert ready for war! Around the kingdom the King has made the customary action of
“hopping” or
salutatory conduction,
mandatory for years
because myelin
inhibits charge leakage of sodium and potassium positively and negatively charged ions. This is where
most of the imbalance happens but was
promptly corrected as the Emperor saw fit to
install a
sodium potassium pump which made our impulses faster across the “Nodes of Ranvier”. We used to be so exhausted transmitting information because
the Queen Hypothalamus, of the
Nyabinghi
“never slept” and if you
crossed her, she would send the hound
“Dopamine” to
keep you stuck in membrane until
“re-uptake” or
worst degradation were you would wither away
due to stress and lack of regeneration of energy.
The central nervous system of the kingdom contains
the majority of the nervous system, and the
“Golden stool” which
secretly holds the brain and the spinal cord from prying eyes.
Together with the peripheral nervous system patrolled by Lt. Swhann they keep
unruly behavior to a “peep”.
But ol’ were they mischievous!!! The whole lot of them!!! Sometimes after great feast prepared by the kingdom they
“over-myelinate” the axon which caused a
“great alarm” among the sanctity of the organism, and
you never want to disturb the organism! If it were not for
General Oli~go~dend~ro~cytes’ army keeping
the motion of intracellular transport possible they would have long been sent away packing.
As
“thought”, “
hopped” through the “
dendrite forest” it ran across a “
sodium potassium pump”. “
Thought”
knew this would be a good time to
“regenerate” some
“sodium ions” since it had
left soo much information at each “hop”. “
Thought”
also knew that it was also safe to
cleanse the “cleft” for this would make
“delay” connection during
“exocytose”easier.
“
Thought”
knew not to go to far across the “
plasma membrane” especially in this part of the “
Central nervous system” because the “
Sensory neurons” around these parts
weren’t as permeable; and one could get “
stuck” if the organism’s behavior
changed.
“
Thought”
knew from stories around the kingdom that the
Queen Hypothalamus controlled hunger and thirst and if she wanted she would unleash the hound Dopamine down the “
microtubules” affecting any chances of escape.
As “
thought”
finished resting and was making
“its” way back up to re-uptake a warning spike went out for
Dopamine . This was
dangerous for
“thought” for it knew if nothing else but to get back in
the axon and head back through
the dendrite forest through
the uptake if it were to make it out alive! “Thought” suggested.
“Just maybe, just maybe I can leash unto a *monoamine DAT transport vehicle, because with organism slowing down “I” cannot possibly conceive any other options”. “To the terminal button!!!" Thought wondered, as it grasped on for dear life towards the uptake.
DARN!!! Thought yelled! "I’ve rested, and traveled so far, not to come back with no mitochondria from the Eukaryotic forest would just be too devasting!!!"
Back at the kingdom there was a great feast indeed.
The Emperor was satisfied with the safe return of
“thought” and
chastised “thought” for being
"sooo irresponsible" as to leave the kingdom
without authority and protection. The General and his troops looked on also with great pride and ignominy but where also pleased to see “thought” safe.
“Thought” as
the King spoke "thought" listened quietly, and intentively, “Wisdom", as
the King spoke to thought…
Wisdom, is
discipline…punishment is the consequence of
not adhering to discipline…therefore,
discipline is not punishment, and punishment is not wisdom.
...Moral of the story is
“mind your elder’s”
