| Quote: Who else… I mean who else can sing or has ever song Young, Gifted, and Black like the original, warrior-Sister Nina Simone! What conviction…what seriousness and purpose…This is why I have always been against the idea of producing “music for just music’s sake” or “art for just art’s sake”. Black musicians and artist are the conjurers, sages, the priesthood, and the shamans of progressive thougth and revolutionary action. Sister I appreciate the link. That just rattled my soul and made me remember how deep and passionate Black folks were about who they were, what they had to work with, and how far we could go with it. It is because of songs like this one, why I will never give up calling myself a Black man, as well as an African. With this as our legacy we can do nothing but succeed, and that is a nonnegotiable imperative. I’ve downloaded this piece and I'm wearin it out, as it loops over and over again...thank you and stay blessed FORWARD!! |
