Many of the elite technical universities maintain similar archives. MIT and Georgia Tech, among others, do so to address the needs of distance learning students at their satellite campuses in India, Singapore, China, and so on.

Berkeley is a GREAT school. Its engineering department is on par with MIT, Georgia Tech, Stanford, and Cal Tech. Those interested in the listed subjects should definitely take advantage of this resource.

A digital college education for free
University education is becoming so terribly expensive. Clark was recently talking to parents who had a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis and another family who had a freshman at Boston University. Both families spoke about the sticker stock of tuition. But what if you could get a first class college education for nothing? University of California, Berkeley has put 300 courses online for free. There is full video posted on YouTube, and Berkeley plans to add more curriculum for free. There's no college credit available, so these videos are really for life-long learners who just love education. In essence, it's like auditing a class. You watch the instructor or lecturer on your computer.

The cost of education is sky-rocketing to say the least. I read somewhere that George Washington University, a private institution, became the first American university to hit the $50,000 mark for tuition and mandatory fees.

$50,000 in tuition and fees! Adjust for the cost of books, housing, and other college-related necessities and you have quite a hefty price tag!

Tuition at public institutions is also on the rise.

At a time when this country is losing ground, technologically, to the likes of South Korea, India, Japan, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Qatar, Malaysia, and others, one would expect for education to be extended to all.

But, with education being profit-driven in this country, the necessary human capital may be locked out from institutions capable of producing a technologically competitive population, able to exist in the emerging global order.
